The timber stalactites of an undulating cave-like ceiling bear down around the bar of a coffee shop in Łódź, Poland.

The restaurant is located in the very centre of Łódź – on the most important street in the city – Piotrkowska. The street – once a symbol of wealth of the one of the richest cities in this region of Europe is now an axis of mostly poor and degenerated district with monumental architecture from before the II World War.

OK, I don’t love the whole place because it’s kind of unfinished and drab for my taste. But i do love the pendants and the bar Stools are brilliant.
After working in as many bars and reasturants as I have, you begin to think you’ve seen everything that can be done with a bar stool. This is such a fresh take. Did I say I love these bar stools, cause I do!

The 30-foot bar is composed of C channel beams and sits beneath 85 lamps made from recycled fire extinguishers – true Castor! – that have been chopped in half and powder coated.

The bar stools are made from industrial truck spring.

Eight communal tables of veneer-topped oak make up the dining area, spinning off the success of the single huge communal table at Oddfellows, Castor’s earlier (and smaller) restaurant.
Apple called the lab a “black” lab because it was a secret facility that even some employees were unaware of. The company made the lab’s existence public to show that Apple takes antenna design and wireless testing seriously.
Apple gave journalists a private tour of its radio-frequency test facility to provide a glimpse into the process of designing wireless products such as iPhones and iPads.
A peek at Apple’s custom-built wireless testing lab, which consists of several anechoic chambers to measure frequency of each device in various settings. Each test chamber is lined with blue pyramid-shaped styrofoam designed to absorb radio-frequency radiation.

The final segments for San Francisco Bay’s new suspension bridge are being loaded onto a ship in Shanghai today, moving California’s largest current public works project a step closer to completion.
Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries Co.’s work making the 525-foot tower at the heart of the suspension bridge and the 28 steel deck sections for it, highlights how Chinese engineers are expanding overseas and winning contracts for more complicated projects.
The viaduct that will link the suspension bridge to Oakland consists of 452 deck sections fabricated in Stockton, California. The structure, called the skyway, sits on 28 columns that are supported by piles driven 300 feet into bay mud, according to the project’s website.

Shanghai Zhenhua only expects a small profit from its part of the project, which it won in 2006 with a $250 million bid, Zhou said, without elaboration. Instead, the group hopes the bridge will help it win more contracts as it expands into new products, including equipment for offshore drilling and wind- power generation.

Manufacturing technology has finally caught up to imagination and digital rendering. This extreme pair of staircases represents two unique, asymmetrical works of functional art – each is installed in an actual London home, but based on three-dimensional computer modeling and created using laser-cut materials.
